Aluminium Duffel Now Casts Handsfree
Aluminium Duffel’s Journey to Handsfree Casting
At Aluminium Duffel, we are taking a major step forward in safety and efficiency: the beginning of our casting process is now fully handsfree. Thanks to years of innovation and perseverance, we have implemented extensive automation that not only makes the work safer but also ensures a more stable and better process.
What is handsfree casting?
Eight years ago, we launched the handsfree casting project. The goal was to make part of the casting process safer and more efficient. By automating various tasks, the start of the casting process can be monitored remotely. As a result, operators no longer need to stand at the installation with three to four colleagues in full PPE gear but can instead oversee the process safely from the operator cabin.
Automation for a better process
To guarantee a stable casting process, we use advanced technologies such as automatic casting, cameras, and data logging. These systems provide a detailed view of the metal flow, allowing us to analyze and improve the process with precision. Thanks to this advanced automation, we have successfully equipped all four casting stations with handsfree casting. Earlier this year, the final station was successfully switched over.
More Safety, Higher Quality
Handsfree casting not only reduces the risk of accidents but also ensures a more consistent and improved production process. Operators can closely monitor and adjust the start of the casting process when necessary, without being directly exposed to the molten metal.
We are proud of this achievement and remain committed to innovation and safety. Thanks to handsfree casting we can make a real difference, not only in the quality of our products but also in the well-being of our employees.
