Kris (supervisor of the shift technicians)
As a shift technician, you have to deal with many technical aspects. As a mentor for interns and apprentices, I have the opportunity to pass on my knowledge to the younger generation.
Who
Kris is the supervisor of the shift technicians in the casthouse.
Training
He studied electromechanics at VTI Lier.
Job
Kris: "I like my job because it involves so many different aspects. Solving complex mechanical breakdowns can be quite challenging: I may have to do some research, repairs, find the right parts and many other things. One moment you are working as a shift technician on the overhead cranes, the next you are dealing with a small electrical problem. Keeping everything running while finding the right solutions is the challenge.”
Why I chose Aluminium Duffel
Kris: "Working for Aluminium Duffel offers many challenges and you have to deal with many different technical aspects. After 30 years with our company, I still learn new things every day. Thanks to our shift system, I also have a lot of free time."
Culture
Kris: "The team spirit is excellent. Team members respect each other, and we complement each other well. One is an ace on computers, another excels as an electrician, another colleague is more competent in mechanics. A great mix of skills."
Value – People & Power
Kris: "I also work as an internship mentor, and this gives me a lot of satisfaction. It's very rewarding to teach the younger generation how the foundry works. I always give them a variety of different tasks. Trainees are often very impressed by the whole casting process."
Free time
Kris: "At home, I like to work on my different bikes. I have bikes that are more than 30 years old and which I use to participate in retro-bicycle races."
