Lesley from Antwerp, she works as an operator on our degreasing line.

Training

She’s a qualified hairdresser, but her career took a totally different direction after following a plumbing course.

The job

Lesley: "My workstation is an installation for degreasing coils. The day always starts with a meeting with my co-workers, when we evaluate how the machine is running. Next, we get to work: I get the coils rolling, operate the machine and prepare coils for the oven. The longer I’ve been doing my job, the more I’ve learnt to understand how the installation works. For example, now I can identify the various sounds it makes. I know it’s only a machine, but I'm getting to know it better and better."

Why I chose Aluminium Duffel

Lesley: "A friend recommended Aluminium Duffel to me. The large machine park really appealed to me. I need job variety and that is what attracted me to Aluminium Duffel. The alternating shift regime offers many advantages when it comes to managing my free time. And I also work close to home. What’s more, the job is not too demanding physically because most tasks are automated."

Culture

Lesley: "There is a positive vibe and a lot of respect between colleagues. I’m also learning a lot; everyone has their own tricks and know-how, and they want to share it with me. I really appreciate that."

Value – Change & Courage

Lesley: "I have several female colleagues, and I’m proud to say we are doing quite well in the production environment at Aluminium Duffel. Traditionally it's more of an activity for men, but we managed to change that."
