Who

Murat is from Lier, a town near Duffel. He acquired his expertise working as an Operator in our casthouse. He then chose a new role as replacement supervisor.

Training

He studied mechanics at TSM Mechelen.

The job

Murat: "I work at one of our four casting stations. Depending on the day, I perform the tasks of smelter or caster. As a smelter, you are responsible for supplying aluminium to our smelting furnaces; this is where the liquid aluminium is created. As a caster, you are responsible for the casting installation where the liquid aluminium is poured and formed into ingots. As a replacement supervisor, I also perform additional tasks. For instance, I train new employees and collaborate on projects."

Why I chose Aluminium Duffel

Murat: "Originally, I was looking for a job in shifts because it was easier to combine with my family. I was gradually given the opportunity to learn more about our production process and the various technologies. Recently, I was able to advance to replacement supervisor. Working together, helping, training and connecting people, that’s what I like to do. Now I can pass on the knowledge I acquired over the years. It's really rewarding."

Culture

Murat: "We work hard, but we also have a lot of laughs, eat together and sometimes organise a team day. I also joined the company's bike leasing programme, and now I ride a high-speed e-bike to work."

Murat: "There is a high level of trust among colleagues. And this is also necessary because we work together in a high-risk environment, so you must be able to count on each other. It’s important to take responsibility and contribute to the teamwork.

Free time

Murat: I love cycling, hiking, travelling and spending time with my family.
